The Metallographic Laboratory Specimen Cutter is a compact, efficient specimen cutter with improved waterstream for more effective cooling. Strength, durability and efficiency are built into the unit. Cut-off wheels can easily be changed. The cutter assembly is completely enclosed, for safety, and is directly connected to a ½ horsepower, 3450 r.p.m., totally enclosed motor. The sludge trap is fitted with a sliding drawer to collect and conveniently remove sludge from the cutting operation, thus preventing clogging of the drain. The trap is fitted with standard pipe connections for convenience of installation.
This unit is ideal for cutting steel or rock samples for metallographic and microscopic examination. One inch round stock can be cut in thirty seconds. Stock range is from 1/16 inch to 1¼ inches.
Laboratory Specimen and Rock Cutter
GEOLOGISTS, metallurgists, and millmen are now appreciating the importance of examining rock and mineral specimens by microscope and the Laboratory Specimen And Rock Cutter has been designed for the purpose of providing samples for such examinations.
It consists of two parallel circular disks (rotating in a bath of ground carborundum) which continually cut into the specimen held in place by an adjustable and weighted lever. Thickness of the sections can be varied by a spacer. These sections permit close examination of the mineral structure with a microscope. Metallurgical and geological problems can thus be solved at the least possible expense.
