The Laboratory Retort is a low cost, iron unit for distilling mercury from amalgam. The cover is carefully turned and ground for a tight fit and the outlet pipe is securely screwed into the cover. This unit will safely and efficiently perform mercury distillation from batch quantities of amalgam produced in laboratory testwork.
The Laboratory Retort is heavily built for durability and additional safety and the bottom is designed to fit into the circular retort supporting stand of a Laboratory Retort Burner. However, home made stands or tripods can be used and the heat supplied by a fire or stove.
Laboratory Retort Burner
The Laboratory Retort Burner gives a very intense heat for retorting amalgam, and it is easily and quickly regulated. The larger size is equipped with a two gallon capacity tank, pressure tested at 100 pounds per square inch, and a powerful, quick-acting brass pump of the check-valve type. The burner, which is cast of heat resisting bronze, is fully protected from wind and weather by a sliding windshield. This unit is designed to fit the Laboratory Retort but can be used both as a retort burner and a general purpose burner for laboratory work.
