Monster Patch for KK-8 Melting Furnace Kiln

We offer another product for repairing the liner after a serious spill. Monster Patch is made up of alumina silicate fibers in a thick, moldable, super sticky base that can be applied up to ½” thick at a time. Monster Patch is a bit difficult to work with, however the material can be thinned with hot, distilled water, which makes it easier to apply. Recommended temperature of the thinned material for the best application is around 160° F. I’ve used Monster Patch to repair the burner port, after torture testing my development kilns and have used it to repair holes up to 1 inch deep in the liner from flux spills, after applying Spill Stop.

The dilemma with Monster Patch is that it is expensive and sort of a pain to work with. Since the kiln’s modular liner can be replaced in sections, it may be easier and more cost effective simply to replace the damaged sections with new ones. So; the recommendation is: For localized spills or burner port repair, use Monster Patch. For large areas, replace the damaged pieces.
